| In 1999 the Kurt-Weill-Gesellschaft in Dessau announced a competition about the design of one former mail-lift-house on the maintrainstation of Dessau. I took part and won in january 2000. When I started my research. the people from the Kurt Weill-Gesellschaft (they have their seat in the Feininger-house, yes, named by Lionel Feininger, the famous painter), where very friedly and let my study the colours and designs of old billboards and even handwritings in their archive from Kurt Weill. On the other site I´ve tryed to find any useful material about the buildings sizes. Its about 6.80 meters height. The people from the trainstation said, that it was build like the other two on the platforms around 1926. It was really interesting, because this was also the time when the well known Bauhaus got build. But it didn´t help me to go on. So I took photos and had a session with the people from the trainstation to get the real size for my designs. While I made my first sketches I was listening to Weills music such as "Mackie Messer" and so on. We had several sessions with the Weill-people to talk about the designs and the realization. When I won the competition I also had to took part in cleaning and painting the tower. The lines and electricity for the trains had to be closed for several hours in the night and the working-climate was really good.
